Sometimes Sunny, Always Thankful

"Sometimes Sunny, Always Thankful" is an original acrylic painting on gallery wrapped canvas.

This painting is part of my 2026 collection: "Sometimes Sunny - The Colours of Hope" and is currently hanging in an exhibition at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium until December 2026. This piece of Mt Edith Cavel, outside Jasper is a vibrant painting that I hope inspires you to feel the sun on your face and smell the gorgeous alpine flowers. The title, "Sometimes Sunny, Always Thankful" is something that I have been contemplating all year. A few years ago, a good friend of mine gave me one of those journals where you write 5 things you are grateful for each day and things you are looking forward to. It made a huge difference in my weeks and honestly, I have thought about it ever since. Even though I am not a consistent journaller, it had an increasingly positive impact on my life. I recently looked back at it, and watched how the thankfulness changed. At first it was like I was grasping at straws to find something to be grateful for - but after a while there were real joys that seeped into the pages. Gratitude takes practice - if you invest in it, it's there even when it isn't sunny. All that to say - sometimes paintings are beautiful, and studies on colour and light (this painting is also that!) and sometimes they mean so much. I hope this painting gives you this reminder of gratitude in the everyday.
