Let the Light In

"Let the Light In" is an original acrylic painting on gallery wrapped canvas.

Can you feel the sunlight on your face when you look at this painting? That was the question in my mind as I was working on it. Trying to get the warmth that comes with a bright new morning - when the grass looks a bit more vibrant due to the fresh sun rays.

There are so many moments of busy-ness throughout my year. After speaking to my loved ones they also identify with this sentiment - "we need more time in the day!". It is a never ending battle to finish all your work, and have time to rest, exercise, make healthy food and see your loved ones. It is increasingly difficult in our modern Canadian society to find moments in your week to "let the light in". These are moments to stop, breathe in some fresh air, and notice the world around us. Notice the tree that is starting to change before all the other trees on your street; notice the flowers that your neighbour Judy has tended to all year and how bright they are; notice the person who hands you your coffee in the drive-thru and how pleasant they always are. These moments of noticing help the busy feeling immensely for me. 

I hope this painting encourages you in your quest to "let the light in".
